The scientific name of the the Maned Wolf is Chrysocyon brachyurus.Is the largest canid of South America, resemblig a large fox with reddish fur.
This mammal is found in open and semi-open habitats,especially grasslands with scattered bushes and trees, in south, central-west and south-western Brazil,Paraguay,northern Argentina, Bolivia east and north of the Andes,and far south-eastern Peru .It is very difficult to found in Uruguay,being possibly extirpated.Is called like aguará guazú,lobo de crin,lobode los esteros,lobo colorado,lobo-guará and borochi.
The maned wolf has often been described "a red fox on stilts" owing to its similar colration and overall appearance,though it is much larger than red fox and belongs to a different genus.The adult animal stan ds 67 to 107cm tall at the shoulder,averages 125cm in head-and-body lenght and weighs 20 to 34.09 kg.The maned wolf is the tallest of the wild canids.The long legs are probably an adaptation to the tall grasslands of its native habitat.The tail measurs 28 to 45cm in length.Fur of the maned wolf may be reddish brown to golden orange on the sides with long,black legs and a distinctive black mane.
The maned wolf is also known for its distintive odor,wich has earned it the nickname "skunk wolf".

Habitat:pastures,meadows,sheets,swampy zones and forests of bushes.
Adaptation:The hair of the nape the shoulders it is longer than that of the rest of body and they bristle it during the antagonistic meetings,giving origin to his name,they are canids of atypical appearance ,since his legs are long as stilts and this allows them to move between the high pastures where it lives and usually he hunts.Diet:meet and fruits.
Its not on the verge of extinction,but if threatened.
My experience on Buin Zoo was very good because we saw so many exciting animals.My group was named "Los gorilas" and we was 4 persons of 6°B and all 6°C, they were kind and funny.My favourite animal was the Ocelot.This was a great experience,thank you.
